Kleobulo Zabaletta, an Estral manufacturing magnate, founded Zabaletta Bejarmugitua in 1967 after seeing the success of the Miura sports coupé; he was especially fond of his. The company garnered quick success with its Botere (Power) sports coupé that closely followed the design of the Miura with its rear mid-engine and rear wheel drive while also being in its own style that quickly took favor with the Estral upper class. New products and model lines were introduced to the brand's portfolio and brought to the market and saw an increased productivity for the brand. In the late 2000s, during the worldwide financial crisis and the subsequent economic crisis, Zabaletta's sales saw a drop of nearly 42 percent.

Zabaletta currently produces the V12-powered Botere, the V10-powered Abiadura and the hybrid V8-powered Erasoa along with the Jasan SUV powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine. In addition, the company produces V12 engines for offshore powerboat racing.

Manufacturing magnate Estral Kleobulo Zabaletta founded the company in 1967 in the wake of a redifining of standards of the high-end performance cars by the Miura sports Coupe by Lamborghini. In a later interview he stated that his Miura is one of his favorite cars he has ever owned. In reality that was more a justification as the major goal was to create luxury cars to compete with the established Estral marque Leoz which had produced high end cars in Estral since the early 50s. Kleobulo saw this as a market he could expand into as there was little competition to Leoz and he figured he could take marketshare.

Zabaletta took the Estral automotive market by storm until its sales plunged in the wake of the 1973 worldwide financial downturn and the oil crisis. While it still had strong support in Aizcona, it lost nearly all of its advances made into the global market which severely hurt the company. With the company limping and becoming more and more of a side venture to Kleobulo Zabaletta, he decided to make an offer to Arcos Motorrak Taldeko in 1978. In return he received a large number of shares, a large payout, and they agreed to keep the name of the subsidiary as Zabaletta. Under new ownership the companies model line was expanded to include new sports cars and a high performance off-road vehicle.

Soon the company found its way into Aizcona's Formula 1 scene and became a major producer of cars and parts, along with starting a team for the national series.

In the late 2000s, during the worldwide financial crisis and the subsequent economic crisis, Zabaletta's sales saw a drop of nearly 42 percent.

As of 2017, Zabaletta is structured as a wholly owned subsidiary of Arcos Motorrak Taldeko.

Zabaletta Bejarmugitua controls four principle subsidiaries; Androkles Motor Holding ZB, a manufacturer of motorcycles; EstralEredura Ingeniaritza (Estral-Design Engineering), an 85.2%-owned design and prototyping firm that provides services to the entire Arcos Motorrak Taldeko; Motorrak Itsas Zabaletta, a manufacturer of marine engine blocks; and AMT Miklania which sells Zabaletta and other AMT vehicles in Miklania.

Automobiles

As of the 2018 model year, Zabaletta's automobile product range consists of four model lines, two of which are mid-engine two seat sports cars, one hybrid mid-engine two seat sports car, and the fourth is a font engined, all-wheel drive SUV. The V12-powered Botere is a call back to the original Botere and is the premier car in Zabaletta's line up, the line consists of the LP 740-4 Botere S coupe and roadster. The V10-powered Abiadura line currently includes the all-wheel-drive LP 610-4 coupe and spyder, the lower cost rear-wheel-drive LP 580-2 coupe and spyder and the most powerful, track oriented LP 640-4 Performance coupe and spyder. In a bid to compete with a changing industry and to appeal to a new crowd of buyers, Zabaletta introduced its first hybrid car, the V8-powered Erasoa. This car maintains high-performance and luxury while also having both a regular engine and an electric engine which gives the car high mpg with a 3.4s 0-60. With the intention of increasing its sales volume, Zabaletta added an SUV named Jasan in its line-up which is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine and utilises a front engine, all-wheel drive layout.

Motorrak Itsas Zabaletta produces a large V12 marine engine block for use in World Offshore Series Class 1 powerboats. A Zabaletta branded marine engine displaces approximately 8,171 cc (8.2 L) and outputs approximately 940 hp (700 kW).

Branded Merchandise

Zabaletta licenses its brand to manufacturers that produce a variety of Zabaletta-branded consumer goods including scale models, clothing, accessories, bags, electronics and laptop computers.

Since the company's beginnings, Zabaletta has been involved in motorsport, competing in a range of categories including Formula One and sports car racing through its Lasterketa Zabaletta sporting division as well as supplying cars and engines to other teams and for one make race series.

The 1969 ZRC 640 was the first racing car to be designed by Zabaletta, although it was not badged as a Zabaletta model.

Lasterketa Zabaletta

Lasterketa Zabaletta has participated in several classes of motorsport, though it is currently only officially involved in Formula One. It has competed in the Formula One Estral Championship since 1969.

The famous symbol of Zabaletta is the Royal Lion which is based on the Estral Lion that inhabits the arid plains of Southern Aizcona. This symbol was chosen by the company's founder, Kleobulo Zabaletta, after a hunting expedition that killed one of the creatures. He noted its magnificence and glory and he felt a comparison between the roar of the lion and the roar of his cars' engines. The lion he killed is still held, stuffed, in the Museoa d'Zabaletta.

This two-story museum is attached to the headquarters, and covers the history of Zabaletta cars and sport utility vehicles, showcasing a variety of modern and vintage models. The museum uses displays of cars, engines and photos to provide a history and review important milestones of Zabaletta.
