(Merc doesn't have to know)
It's not that terrifying.
As a whole, Midasia is governed by an Empress, whose largely ceremonial power is given by the 1936 Treaty of Naboo, the Konsul, the Unicameral Imperial Parliament, and the Supreme Court of Midasia. The Konsul is elected to a term of seven years and can serve three terms total, of which only two can be consecutive. Members of Parliament are elected to terms of three years and may serve for five consecutive terms. Members also elect a Prime Minister who serves as a sort of Speaker.
Midasia is also a union of five Socialist Imperial Republics. The largest is La Republica Sureña and houses Naboo, the capital. Each of the republics has it's own parliament which elects a Premier who heads the Government of the Republic.
The Supreme Court of Midasia is composed of five Justices with one being elected by each republic every six years for up to three total terms.

Ok ;)

So it is. I never noticed your nation title honestly.
Smart queen.
Do each of the republics have equal representation in the national parliament or is it like the UK where one nation/republic dominates the rest by sheer size?
Lavan Tiri, Mercunova, and Midasia
I would imagine so lol. Can former nobles and their descendents file for compensation for lost titles, land and property like in Germany?
Ooft. Then they will def be pissed. I bet the queen and royal family like being the only ones with special titles though. Nurem still has a fully fledged aristocracy.
Lavan Tiri and Mercunova
Well, the Revolution happened in 1823, so many people either don't know or don't care. Of those descendants of nobility that know and care, 82% belong to either the Queen and Crown Party or the Fascist Society.
The Fascist Society sound entirely lovely. Is the Queen and Crown party the conservative party?
In Nurem, aristocrats still own land and hold titles but they have no special legal or political privileges. Many are involved in business and politics. The previous prime minister was a nobleman.
Ewwww nobility.[/quote]
Hehe yeah. The Conservative Party in Nurem is split into two factions. There is the one-nation conservatives who are mostly old money and come from the nobility. The other faction are the more Thatcherite cons and tend to be business types. The former prime minister is now the Minister for the Imperial Court, the highest position among all the imperial staff who serve the Tsar and his family.

1: Military Service is compulsory for all regardless of age, for our war is eternal.
2:Of course, all blood must be used for genetic experiments regardless of orientation.
3: Mostly Nuclear and Solar, but water, air and coal are used as well
4: Anarchist Totalitarianism. = A System of individual member syndicates ruled over by a military war lord/war lords that all answer to the Supreme Khan
5: Only 1 State Party "Iberian Unification Order of Chaos", other "parties are groups of individual warlords who created coalitions but the Khan always has the final say on all matters
6: We have a good crowd shooting if that counts
7: Nah because all other religions are heavily persecuted and eradicated if they refuse to accept the chaotic nature of Iberia, if those unbeliever manage to apply for job they are sacrificed without trial
8: Trial by Firing Squad
The Imperial Parliament is based on population, as of right now there are 383 seats with each containing around the same number of people. So, the Republics each have proportional representation in parliament and it would require 100% control of the seats in the two largest Republics to have a majority in parliament and that majority would only be by about 4 or 5 seats. Additionally, the Midasian Supreme Court's Justices each represent one of the Republics, ensuring the republics have equal representation in one branch of government.
Sounds cool but how do you reconcile the socialist government with a monarchy?
TL;DR: The Empire was started through democracy, and may, at any point, be ended through democracy.
The Imperial roots in Midasia stem from the Midasian War for Independence in the 1820's. After this, the Colonial Viceroy, who fought for independence, was crowned Emperor by way of referendum. In 1936, just a few decades after the Midasian civil and following the death of Emperor Augusto, the First Socialist Konsul was elected and had the support of the vast majority of the population. The new Empress also had the support of a large portion of people, so the 1936 Treaty of Naboo, which now serves as the Consitution, officially gave and limited power to the monarch, instead of the Monarch giving power to the constitution. With this, the people could voice support for abolishing the Monarchy and pass a referendum doing so, but there hasn't been support for it, mainly due to the Imperial Family's political silence or support of legislation most Midasians supported.
Ah, fair enough. That makes sense. Pretty cool too.
Is the monarchy matriarchal?
Thanks, but that also means it is difficult to explain without writing a textbook.
Add-on:
It also sets up a weird situation where, unlike most monarchies, there isn't a class of Nobility, there are no noble titles or special castles. The only "Nobility" are immediate members of the Imperial family.
My monarchy has some political power. The Crown managed to maintain some of it thanks to the negotiating skills of the Tsaritsa who was restored to the throne after the communist period.
The Empress still has a bit of power, but due to the constitution and the people, it is unlikely that power is used.
Better to not use the power and keep all the goodies.
