Yeah I know I'm late for a day for the Population Tracker update, but since it's May 1st now, I can take profit off the fact that the month's over, so I can do a population tracker update and a telegram tracker update in one go! Way to guillotine two tyrants with one blade.
Welp, the comrade count went down again. This time, we went back down to 495 from 496. It's just one person, yeah, but we should go back to 500. As for the World Assembly citizens, the count went unchanged. For the comrade count, that's partly my fault, since for a while I just didn't send stamps lately.
Speaking of stamps, here's another shameless plug for the Stamp Program! Apply now and buy us stamps so we can convert fascists into leftism with our basedness, and get thanked by the Secretary in the State of Assembly! If baseness is a word...

In NationStates, stamps are a type of game credits that can be purchased from the NationStates Store. Once purchased, stamps can be used to automatically send mass telegrams, for example to all nations in a certain region or all World Assembly member nations, but we use them to recruit new & refounded nations. You can find some more information in the NationStates FAQ.
The first thing to check when starting the donation process is that you are logged in the nation you want the donation to come from. You can also donate anonymously, by doing the following steps while not being logged in any nation.
1. Go to the NationStates store and click "Gift options".
In the "Gift this purchase to:" box, type the name TLA Recruitment Office, then click "Select". It is very important that you select the option to make your purchase a gift, and that you write down the correct nation as the recipient of your gift. Otherwise, the stamps will not be given to the correct nation, and once that happens they can no longer be transferred.
2. Type TLA Recruitment Office in "Gift this purchase to", then click "Select".
3. If you filled in the gift options correctly, you should see something similar to this. Note the region's flag, and the "TLA Recruitment Office" title.
Once you have filled in the gift options correctly, scroll down to the bottom of the page. Next to the label "Number of stamps", type in the amount of stamps you want to purchase, then click update. Once you do this, the price tag to the right will update to reflect the cost of your purchase. Remember that the price is US $1 for each 1000 stamps, and that the minimum purchase is 1000 stamps. If you typed in the wrong amount of stamps, you can repeat this process.
4. In the "Telegram Stamps" area, select the number of stamps you want to purchase, then click "Update". The updated price tag to the right shows the cost of your purchase.
You are now ready to make your purchase. If you are not familiar with the service, it should be straightforward to use---keep in mind however that you will need to provide a valid credit or debit card, or a Paypal account. Once you complete the transaction, you will be directed back to the NationStates store page. At the top, there will be an acknowledgment of your transaction. If you filled in the gift options correctly previously, it will also show that the stamps you purchased were gifted to "TLA Recruitment Office".

Now, for the telegram tracker update!
The stamp program is still going somewhat strong: over 10 000 stamps have been sent to various new and refounding nations, but we cannot discriminate on who gets those stamps so we may get some trolls once in a while. The last episode we had with those chumps had nothing to do with our program, though. Which I find rather strange, but anyway.
That big thing coming I was alluding to last week? Here it is: only 5847 API telegrams have been sent this month, while previous full-month tenures with the API average at around 9500 telegrams. So we need to figure out what went wrong? Well, I already got the answer because that was actually rather easy to figure out:
I am running the API through my dekstop PC, using Windows 10. One recent update for Windows 10 decided that in order to save power and battery life (and in my case, hard drive longevity), it would disconnect from the Internet while going through sleep mode. Thing is, I'm mostly on my laptop for studying and working and whatnot, so I tend not to get a lot of active time on my Winblows Teen.
So, that had to be taken care of. At first I went through the easy method: just getting in the Settings and checking on the checkbox to make sure the PC always remains connected. I thought that'd work, but alas, despite my monitor's assurances to the contrary, it did not. So after that I went to type a command on the command prompt to force my computer to remain connected to the Internet in sleep mode.
It still didn't work.
So I got rid of sleep mode. Now, my PC is going to be sleep deprived for the next month and a half and already has been for half that month. But at least the API will be operating at full capacity!
Anyway, that's the update. I'm going to go crawl back into things I don't know and try recruiting some more.
