I just took a gander at the thread ... I see what you mean. My only guess (and one I'm choosing to believe rather than the disturbing alternative) is that the commenters are reflecting their own ages, or ages close to theirs.

For reference, Jamaica saw 4.3 million tourists stop by in 2018, while the Dominican Republic received 6 million tourists that same year.
