I would 100% agree with you that a lot of the hard right-wingers that have begun to rise in politics in the past few decades are compounded by disinformation, conspiracy theories, and religious fundamentalism. The internet has created a society that is run solely on selling their viewpoints to the highest number of people, which has resulted in clearly false information being spread in order to bait interaction from the majority of people who have common sense along with continuing to confirm the viewpoints held by a small but significant minority of our population that the government is out to get you, the liberals are coming to vaccinate your kids with autism and homosexuality etc. The media that is owned by the massive international conglomerates such as Warner Bros. and Fox continue to fund division and biased news reports so that their politicians and political parties that they own can continue their chokehold on American politics.
However, I think what modern progressives in the west have really failed to account for is the absolute destruction of the working class in post-industrial neoliberal society. The vast majority of Trump supporters are working class, the same goes for most people on the hard-right in Europe and Canada. The reason for this is the complete selling off of western workers to foreign countries that have more lax labour standards and nonexistent environmental laws (not being xenophobic just stating a fact), and the destruction of working class communities via gentrification, factory closures, and the annihilation of trade unions. Not even taking into account the absolutely criminal neglect of smallholder and co-operative farms in favour of industrial farming, which have considerably worse conditions for both workers and animals and worse environmental impact. I blame Blair, Clinton, Reagan, Thatcher, and Mulroney for this along with other neoliberal leaders in western Europe during the 80s and 90s. They singlehandedly ended welfare, destroyed the influence of trade unions, sold off mass amounts of the domestic workforce to Southeast Asia and Africa, and privatized most state owned companies. This resulted in large amounts of working class people in these countries becoming extremely alienated and forgotten about. And a large reason for their worsening position in society was because of the so called "progressive" parties like the Democrats who were responsible for the neoliberal consensus of the 90s. To this day the Democrats have failed to reconcile this, and half of union households voted for Trump in 2020. This trend can also be seen in other countries, with a large portion of workers abandoning the supposed "centre-left" parties that sold them off to foreign companies and countries for far-right parties who promise to protect domestic production and increase local manufacturing. Trump was especially successful using this, as he promised to leave NAFTA and TPP and restore domestic production, which he in part did achieve. So when progressives say that everyone on the right is this uncompromising, fascist, and racist idiot they're failing to realize the reason why a lot of them vote for those parties or believe the things they believe. Before neoliberalism workers overwhelmingly supported the centre-left progressive parties, and their support dropped off when they were bought off by the large corporate interests that now dominate our society. There is a correlation here.

I think that is spot-on. This is why slogans do matter, since they will have a big impact on that low-involvement, high-impact segment. So on CwA's point, how about America for Everyone (substitute your own country as appropriate, and use the most nationalistic version of the name if there are variants).
Hello forest people.
Columbiqash's Battle Against Smoking: A Price Hike Sparks Black Market Blaze
Columbiqash's latest public health campaign has taken an unexpected turn, with the government's decision to impose heavy taxes on cigarettes igniting a bustling black market. Aimed at quashing the smoking habit that persists among its population, the strategy intended to deter smokers by hitting them in the wallet has instead pushed them towards illicit avenues.
The government's vision of a smoke-free Columbiqash is now obscured by the smoke from under-the-counter cigarette sales. Sidestreets and back alleys, once mere shortcuts, have transformed into the arteries of a thriving illegal tobacco trade. This shadow economy is not just a loophole exploited by persistent smokers; it symbolizes a stand against what many see as an infringement on personal choice.
While the intent behind the tobacco tax was to protect public health, the outcome has been paradoxical. Instead of fostering healthier lifestyles, it has given rise to a network of contraband operations that bypass legal channels, undercutting the very goal of the policy.
As Columbiqash navigates the unintended consequences of its crackdown on smoking, it confronts the complexities of balancing public health initiatives with the realities of human behavior and economic incentives. The smoke from this policy blunder may take time to clear, highlighting the challenges of legislating lifestyle choices in the face of determined resistance.
Unearthing Peril: Columbiqash Confronts Maxtopian Pox Resurgence Amidst Mountainous Graveyard Discovery
In an unforeseen turn of events that has rapidly escalated into a national emergency, the serene but foreboding mountains of Columbiqash have become the epicenter of a crisis that harks back to a danger thought long vanquished. The recent unearthing of an ancient graveyard, hidden for centuries under the snow and ice, has sparked widespread alarm as it revealed the remnants of victims of the Maxtopian Pox, a deadly disease once believed to be eradicated.
The discovery was made by a group of unwitting teenagers, leading to immediate hospitalization due to exposure to the disease. Erica Miller, a prominent virologist, clad in a hazmat suit against the backdrop of the picturesque but now ominous mountain range, has called for urgent measures. "The reactivation of this virus from its icy tomb poses an unparalleled threat to public health. Our history and our very biology are unprepared for this resurgence," she stated, advocating for the quarantine of the area and the rapid vaccination of nearby communities.
As quarantine signs punctuate the landscape and medical tents rise against the clock, the gravity of the situation has brought together villagers in queues for vaccinations, their faces a tableau of apprehension and resolve. The government's swift response, marshaling resources for containment and treatment, underscores the seriousness of the threat.
The contrast between the ancient malady and modern containment efforts encapsulates the broader struggle between humanity and the diseases of old, with Columbiqash now at the forefront of this battle. The national response, blending caution with scientific vigor, aims not only to contain this immediate threat but also to reinforce defenses against similar emergencies in the future.
With the world watching, Columbiqash embarks on a critical test of its resilience and determination to safeguard its citizens against a forgotten horror, rekindled from the depths of history. The mountains, a silent witness to centuries of secrets, now hold the key to a challenge that could define the nation's legacy in combating infectious diseases.
International Court to Try War Criminal Vlad Leopold Amid Jurisdictional Debate
The capture of Vlad Leopold, a Tasmanian war criminal, by Columbiqashian police has sparked a heated debate over jurisdiction, with international, national, and personal interests colliding. Prosecutor Rosita Yeats of the Forest Criminal Court argues for international jurisdiction, emphasizing the global impact of Leopold’s crimes and advocating for a comprehensive legal approach to ensure justice on an international scale.
Meanwhile, Alani Edwards, the Tasmanian ambassador, has made a passionate case for Tasmanian jurisdiction, citing the deep personal loss suffered by Tasmanians due to Leopold’s actions and calling for the right of the directly affected to seek retribution.
Columbiqash’s claim to jurisdiction, articulated by National Police Chief Don Longstaff, rests on the principle of sovereign rights to prosecute crimes committed against its citizens. Longstaff highlighted Columbiqash's role in apprehending Leopold, arguing for the nation's right to try him.
In contrast, a shadowy figure suggested leveraging Leopold’s skills for covert operations, hinting at the complex ethical dilemmas faced by the international community in handling such cases.
The Forest Criminal Court is set to proceed with the trial, underscoring the challenges faced by the international justice system in addressing crimes with widespread implications. The case of Vlad Leopold is seen as a crucial test of the system’s ability to navigate legal, moral, and geopolitical complexities, highlighting the ongoing struggle to balance the pursuit of justice with international and national interests.
Columbiqash Affirms Commitment to Arts and Humanities in Education
Columbiqash, amid a heated debate on the value of arts and humanities in universities, has decided to continue supporting these academic fields, officials said Thursday. The decision comes in response to a controversial proposal by a group of scientists, lawyers, and doctors to limit university studies to fields deemed more directly beneficial to the nation's economy.
Critics of the proposal argued that eliminating the arts and humanities from higher education would diminish the country's cultural richness and weaken critical thinking skills across professions. The government's stance has been applauded by educators and cultural advocates, who see it as a victory for academic diversity and a testament to the essential role that creativity plays in societal advancement.
"Arts and humanities are foundational to our society, enriching our understanding of human experience and fostering innovation," said Prof. Catherine Gratwick, a renowned artist. The government's decision underscores Columbiqash's commitment to nurturing a well-rounded citizenry and preserving its cultural heritage.
The debate highlighted the importance of balancing practical skills with the intellectual and emotional depth that studies in the arts and humanities provide. By reaffirming its support for these fields, Columbiqash aims to ensure its education system remains vibrant and inclusive, contributing to a more thoughtful and creative society.

THEY BUILT AN ENTIRE FREAKING NEST IN THERE I'M GONNA STINKIN MURD
Hello everyone! FA update: Nucl's dm'd me that a region by the name of Declansburg would like to "officially" join us in our co-hosted chess tournament. (Or at least a bunch of them wanna play and they'd like their name on the roster; y'know most regions do things more "officially" these days.) They ask because they're not actually an embassy of either TRTHNBB or Forest. Just making sure if that's OK with everyone or if you all would rather just work with embassies of our two regions. Or if there's a grievance with Declansburg in particular :P
Hope you all have a lovely day. The sun is shining. The flowers are blooming. The birds are MAKING FREAKING NEST INSIDE MY VENT OUT OF THE FLOWERS I F
(They are an embassy of TRTHNBB) I just wanted to check with you first :)
(Ah so they are) That's what I get for not checking first. I should not be on the internet between 4 and 8 AM. But yeah I don't have any issue with them joining '^^
Welp since I feel bad for my RMB clutter, now, I will take this time to say to Columbiqash that, funny as this AI can be at making pictures, it can also be pretty dang impressive at times. Those flags though... you could genuinely come up with NS flag ideas (good and bad) with this thing.
Incidentally, I'm fairly sure it's illegal to interfere with a bird's nest at this time of year.
Talking about birds and AI, the Turiol Empire developed an app that identifies potential risks for birds, it tells you what place is more adequate for that bird species.
There are Antarctica, Maldives and Spain (where the TE is) editions, of the so called Bird Seeker series.

Yeah, that's a big oof. I remember maybe two years ago where on the front door of our home we had this nice Christmas wreath, so nice that we kept it up even after the season was over and spring was beginning. Eventually over the course of a two or three day period these sparrows thought it was a perfect place to nest, and before we knew what was happening they had already laid their eggs. So for several weeks we were essentially trapped in the situation and forced to use a backdoor while the miracle of life was running its course. Don't get me wrong it was actually pretty cool to see, though the downsides were that the cat kept jumping at the door's window (because of course) and the cleanup after they had all grown up and flown away was... considerable to say the least. They even tried to do the same thing the next spring, though we had enough of that and took down the wreath before any real progress was made.
So good luck with your own feathered friends, I hope the process isn't too painful xP
Hey there, just a reminder that we kinda frown upon double posting here in Forest (Unless it's something government related) and if you would like to say something else after you have already made a post, I would recommend editing your previous or just wait for someone else to post. Anyways have a good day!

Texas' Ambassador to Forest
Just saw your news, Verdant! Excited to see just under a dozen (20% of the new) banners show up in my Notices. xD
I sadly probably won't be displaying all of them. Much as I want to flaunt my accomplishments, such as having a thriving retail industry, or turning the government into a for-profit business, I really do much prefer having pretty towns and nature and the occasional civil rights movement on my banners. (Though I still proudly flaunt my issue author banner.) They're much appreciated regardless, though. :)
Edit: Though I will happily turn on Old Growth.
One day I will successfully have a negative greenness score sufficient to equal Ransium’s positive one
Gotta love how I’m usually a wildly different color than everyone else
23 new banners, ooh!
I’ve got 19 new banners. Exciting! I thought something bad happened with so many pings until I opened the notification bar. For now I’ve added two of the new banners on display: the green trees look amazing. Even though I prefer to use my custom banners for the main account, I love all the banners in general and use specific ones for my puppets.
Now, after being spoiled by such fancy updates, I can’t help but wait for the new policies cards xD
🎊 Congratulations, Verdant Haven! One of Forest's very best community members leaving their mark on the wider NS game again! 🌲🌲🌲
Just saw this post but, I'm not quite sure if an ambassador from another region is able to apply for a government position. I looked through the constitution and it didn't say anything, so maybe a higher up with more knowledge could comment on this? This is likely up to Zerphen since they're now Forest Keeper.
I got *checks notices* three new banners! I'm a bit underwhelmed.
Sheesh 13 new banners. Neat. I wonder what prompts the bureaucracy ones.
