Watching Madmen for the first time. I realise it's a tv show, but the casual and gratuitous misogyny is (while possibly accurate) difficult to watch. I wonder how the actors - of both sexes - felt about it. Maybe it'll develop into something later on.

I don't like to share about my personal life much because everyone has issues of their own, but lately I've been put through the wringer.
First I was evicted and had to crash on my aunt's couch for the last 3 months while looking for work, and then just this Tuesday my girlfriend was kicked out by her abusive crazy roommate and has to live out of her car. I refuse to let her suffer alone so I've been with her the whole time, sleeping in the car at night and staying with her while she drives for Doordash during the day. Her belongings and her cats need to be out by tomorrow, Friday, and really has no where to put all the stuff. It's been incredibly stressful lately but I'm doing my best to hold both of us together through this.

God, that's an incredibly difficult situation to be in, especially when there's pets or children involved. What are you going to do? Are there any other relatives you can call on for help?

To be blunt, most of my family is dead. The ones left alive are all struggling enough on their own. My aunt is letting us park in her driveway at night so we have somewhere safe while we sleep, but her home is way too small to accommodate two more people.
We're just going to focus on earning money and surviving day-to-day for now.

Can you afford a small place together? Just until you get back on your feet? Even a room, somewhere? A tent in someone's back yard? Jeez. Life is getting impossible.

We've been able to scrape together enough to get a hotel for two nights, other than that it's just surviving on the little money she makes day to day. I just started a new job Friday so I will have income soon, but not soon enough to keep us out of the car every night.
It's going to be alright though. I've survived through situations just as tough before and I'm not going to let something as comparatively inconsequential as this be the end of her & I, though. I'm not living for just myself anymore and I'm not going to let this end my life just as soon as it got started for real.

Of course there's a sudden heatwave this week. When I'm stuck sleeping in a car without A/C.

I am so tired of all this AI crap.

Just checking in Aplan, if you were to start a gofundme I would absolutely pitch in and I know quite a few others that would as well, we live in a brutally difficult world and we’ve only got each other

That's an excellent idea.
